Do you own all of the vehicles on this website?
Yes we do, lock stock and barrel. All of the wedding vehicles are owned by us outright. None have hire purchase or leasing agreements. We are not an Agency or Broker.

Can we view the cars before we book?
Yes you can. We can book you an appointment to view any of our vehicles, please be aware that it may not always be possible on weekends during peak season.

How many wedding cars will I need?

You will probably require 2-3 vehicles. One for the mother of the bride, bridesmaids & pageboys, one for the groomsmen, and the other for the bride and her escort. The main bridal car should be special to the bride (and later the bride and groom.) We do not recommend, or advise using the main bridal car for multiple journeys. Any problems en-route could cause stress to the bride who will be waiting for the car to return and delay proceedings. Utilising the main bridal vehicle for multiple trips is entirely at your own risk.

Can the bridal car take the bridesmaids first then come back for the bride?
Yes, if requested but can’t be recommended. Any delays during the first journey will have a knock-on effect for the second trip and thereafter. The longer the journey time, the worse this will be. Using the same car may be a risky strategy but understand it can be more economical if on a budget. It is more recommended you use the groom’s car to then return for the bridesmaids, as they often need to arrive that bit earlier to greet the guests.

Will you provide wedding transport for a Civil Partnership?
Yes. We provide transport for weddings of all denominations, Civil Ceremonies, Civil Partnerships, Wedding Blessings and renewal of vows.

How long can we have the wedding car for?
You can book a vehicle for as long as you wish, however our wedding package is based upon a 3 hour hire period, if required for longer it needs to be requested when quoting.

What's included in the price?
Please refer to our services page for further information.

How far do you travel?
We travel up to 60 miles from our base in Grimsby, please contact us if not sure.

Do you provide champagne in the wedding cars?
No. We are not licensed with our Local Authority to provide alcohol. Any company providing alcohol must be licensed. We can provide non-alcoholic champagne, or if preferred you could supply your own.
Eating, drinking and smoking are not permitted in any vehicle.

Can we drink in the wedding car?
Sorry, but we do not allow uncorking of champagne inside any vehicle or drinking in transit.  We can't afford to have spillages on the upholstery. Any dark coloured drinks and red wine are absolutely forbidden inside any vehicle.
Will the wedding car have ribbons on?
Yes. All vehicles are dressed with the ribbon colour of your choice subject to availability.

Can we squeeze in an extra person?
OUR VEHICLES page on this website states the number of passengers each vehicle can seat. This can not be exceeded, and is enforced through North East Lincs council.

Do you provide child seats?
Sorry, but we do not allow child seats of any kind in any of our vehicles. Child seats may cause damage to the upholstery or indentations to the leather.

Will you carry under 3’s?
Most of our vehicles do not have seats belts. This is legal due to their age. Children over the age of 3 years are legally allowed to travel in the back seat without child restraints.   For under 3’s in a licensed car then if a child car seat is not available, the child may travel unrestrained in the rear for short journeys. This is the only exception for children under 3 years, and was introduced for practical rather than safety reasons. You should always think about the safest way for children to travel. Children must be accompanied by an adult for all journeys and they must remain seated at all times.

Do you provide vehicles for school proms?
Yes we do, we hold a Private Hire Operators License and are fully insured which enables us to hire our vehicles for proms and any other special occasions. All of our drivers have private hire licences and are fully CRB checked. Anyone offering any vehicle to carry passengers unlicensed is uninsured and risks prosecution and impoundment of the vehicle.

How long do I get in the vehicle for my prom event?
We base our prom hire prices on a 1 hour hire period which gives you plenty of time for photos and a drive around before arriving at your venue. We generally will collect from 1 address, this  allows  all passengers equal time within the vehicle, multiple pick ups would need to be  agreed by all parties.

What If one of my friends drops out, will I get a reduction in cost?
No, if any member of the party no longer wishes to travel in the vehicle, no reductions will be made, we hire the vehicles out, we do not charge by individual seats. The responsibility remains with the hirer at all times to ensure payments are made on time; we will not deal with individuals within the party to collect money and will only liaise with the hirer.

Will you collect me after my prom?
No, we do not collect after proms, as this would put too much responsibility on our drivers to ensure they collect the right passengers that had actually paid for the vehicle hire. It is always the parent’s responsibility to make suitable arrangements for collection.

Do I need to pay a deposit to reserve a vehicle?
Yes the deposit will secure your booking, we allow 7 days upon booking for you to send your payment, after that we cannot continue to reserve the vehicle. We accept cheques payable to Big Day Buses, cash, bank transfer or PayPal.

When is the balance payment due?
60 days prior to the date of hire. We do not send invoices out, although if payment is overdue we may send you a reminder by email.

Will I lose my deposit if I cancel my booking?
Yes. All deposits are non refundable. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for full details for cancelled bookings.

We haggle on everything, do you mind if we do this with you?
We don't give an inflated price to begin with. We will offer you our best price at the time of your enquiry and that will be our final price.

How long are quotes valid for?
Our quotations are valid for 7 days.

What if I’m not sure what time I want picking up?
Not to worry, we always will give you a courtesy call the week prior to the event to confirm all of your travel arrangements, check addresses and emergency numbers.

What happens if the wedding car is delayed?
There can be several reasons why the car may be delayed. This could be due to traffic congestion, road closures, level crossings, accidents, weather etc. All of which are unforeseen and beyond our control. Our drivers will always allow plenty of time for their journey and sometimes may arrive earlier than you would have liked, there is no pressure for you to leave earlier than planned we will simply wait. We always ask for an emergency telephone number on the day so if there are any delays we can inform you a.s.a.p. It is your responsibility to ensure you have provided us with the correct emergency number which we will confirm with you.

What happens if the wedding car breaks down?
This has to be the most frequently asked question but the answer has many different scenarios and therefore a simple answer is not possible. We will try to cover the most common situations:

1. should the car breakdown prior to the hire date and we are unable to rectify the problem in time, we reserve the right to substitute another vehicle subject to availability. Wherever possible you will be offered the choice of more than one alternative vehicle.

2. Should the car breakdown on the day of hire, before the hire commences, this is regarded as an emergency and we reserve the right to substitute another vehicle and is subject to availability.

3. If you have hired more than one vehicle and one suffers a breakdown during the course of the hire period which cannot be rectified, one of the other vehicles may be able step in and you will be on your way as soon as possible.

If you have not hired any additional vehicles and the problem cannot be rectified, we are left to rely on a guest or kind passing motorist to help get you there. The chances are you will be late. If the vehicle is unable to continue with the itinerary, sending a replacement is not always practical due to distance and time constraints.
In either instance, the chauffeur will make his preliminary checks, do bear in mind he is not a mechanic and he will be under pressure. Cars are machines and so it is inevitable that from time to time (and it is rare) they do break down.
We do have Business RAC Breakdown cover on all of our vehicles.
This is no way reflects our commitment to maintain all vehicles to the highest possible standard. Anyone hiring a car, particularly one of our old girls should have a modicum of sense regarding this. It must be accepted by the Hirer that booking a vehicle does not guarantee its performance. It does no good apportioning blame for circumstances unforeseen and beyond our control. It must be understood that sometimes it happens and no one is to blame.

We strongly recommend and advice that you have a back-up travel plan in place before the day begins.

Please be advised that at no time will we enter into organizing a taxi company to provide a substitute vehicle.

IF THE THOUGHT OF TEMPORARY OR FULL MECHANICAL BREAKDOWN on your wedding day is keeping you awake at night, you really only have two options:
Option 1 - Hire 2 vehicles, that way if anything happens to the 1st vehicle, the 2nd vehicle has the chance to take over.
Option 2 - Hire brand new vehicles which will have the benefit of modern technology and mechanics and are less likely to experience problems. (But can still break down.)
